Parent Participation at St. Patrick Regional High School 2020/2021  

Welcome to Parent Participation at St. Pats.   

*Please note that we continue to make adjustments and changes, as needed this year, to our school Parent Participation program. 

Here are some reminders and information regarding parent participation at St. Patrick Regional High School for the 2020/2021school year. 

1)   What are the Parent Participation fees and hours for this school year? 

Our school parent participation fee remains at $650. 

The REC approved lowering our parent participation hours from 40 to 30 hours for this school year. 

On May 15thParent Participation fees will be deposited based on the number of hours not completed for each family. 

$21.67 /hour (calculated $650 / 30 hours) 

2)   What is the money from our Parent Participation fee used for? 

Our school needs money to support school expenses and for school programs.  Parent participation fees go directly to General Revenue for our school.   

3)   Where can I find Parent Participation volunteer opportunities? 

To find and sign up for parent participation volunteer opportunities available please access the parent participation portal via our school website and use your youngest child’s student number. 

This year there are fewer opportunities due to Covid 19 restrictions and protocols. All available opportunities will be posted on the Parent Participation Portal. 

4)   How can parents find and sign up for parent participation opportunities on the portal? 

To sign in to the parent participation portal you will need your youngest child’s student number.  Your youngest child’s student number will be both your username and password.

5)   What are some Parent Participation volunteer opportunities for this year? 

This year there are fewer opportunities due to Covid 19 restrictions and protocols. 

All available opportunities will be posted on the Parent Participation Portal.  Some Parent Participation volunteer opportunities include: 

a)    SLC – Student learning center one parent is needed daily.  See Parent participation portal for shifts still available.  Duties include: 

  • Use the online library management system to check-out/check-in items borrowed by the students 
  • When books are returned and scanned back in, shelve them back on the correct location. 
  • Check-in/Check-out Chromebooks borrowed by students and charge returned Chromebooks 
  • Add paper to the photocopier and printer as needed 
  • Wiping down Chromebooks, tables and counters at the end of day 
  • Turning on MRC computers at the start of the week and shutting them down at the end of the week  

b)   Cafeteria / Hot Lunch delivery– This year students can pre-order a hot lunch through the online hot lunch program. 3 to 4 parents are needed daily to help deliver and distribute hot lunches to different areas of the school for student pick up during the school lunch hour.  Shifts are from 11:00 – 1:00am daily.  See Parent participation portal for shifts still available. 

c)    Traffic Duty–Up to 4 parents daily, two in the morning and two in the afternoon. 

Two parent volunteers are needed to monitor traffic in front of our school in the mornings from 8:00- 9:00 Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday and 8:30 – 9:30 am Wednesday mornings. 

Two parent volunteers are needed to monitor traffic in front of our school in the afternoons from 2:30 – 3:30 Monday to Friday after school.

d)   Cleaning and maintenance– Schedules for cleaning and maintenance teams have already been created for this year and take place on Saturdays.  If more volunteers are needed opportunities will be posted in the portal.

e)   Celtic Raffle Ticket sales– For this school year, the REC – Regional Education Committee voted to give parents the opportunity to receive some or all of their parent participation hours for Celtic Raffle Ticket sales.  Please note a minimum of 30 tickets need to be sold to receive 6 parent participation hours and a total of 150 tickets totaling $750 need to be sold to receive 30 parent participation hours.  See Celtic raffle ticket email sent out to families with their own personalized link to use for ticket sales. 

f)     Walkathon – Date to be announced 

Our school Walkathon, for this school year, will be scheduled this spring.   A message will be sent out when volunteer opportunities are posted on the portal.
