Land Acknowledgment
We begin every morning by recognizing the traditional territories on which our school stands to reflect our respect for and their enduring relationship with the land.
Welcome Post
A symbol of our commitment, the welcome post stands at the entrance of our school, greeting all with a message of unity and respect. It serves as a daily reminder of our shared responsibility to honor the history and culture of Indigenous communities.
Connections
We strive to build strong relationships with local Indigenous communities. Through guest speakers and collaborative projects, we create opportunities for students to engage directly with Indigenous knowledge keepers and leaders. One example of this is in the indigenous painting at the stained glass entrance to the school chapel.
Kairos Blanket Exercise
Each year, our Grade 8 students participate in a blanket workshop, an experiential learning activity that teaches them about the historical and contemporary experiences of Indigenous peoples. This powerful workshop fosters empathy and a deeper understanding of the significance of reconciliation.
Classes and Curriculum Updates
Our educational programs include classes that focus on Indigenous histories, contributions, and contemporary issues. We regularly update our curriculum to ensure that it accurately represents and respects Indigenous perspectives.
